The 7-th KYS State conference was held on 24th-May-2009 ,Sunday at Ernakulam , Hindi Prachar Sabha Hall specially renamed as Gandhi Krishnan Nagar.Prelude to the conference flag hoisting was done . The KSS flag was hoisted by Adv. O.S. Ramakrishnan (KSS State President) in the presence of Mr. M.S. Vinod (KYS State President),Mr. Santosh Kumar (KYS Gen. Sec), Mr. A.B. Manu (KYS State Jt. Secretary),Mr. Sunil (KYS state member) ,KYS Youth representatives and KSS members.
The conference formally started at 10:30 am with the recitation of the prayer. In the Welcome address KYS Gen. Secretary welcomed the guests and all the participants of the conference. Mr. M.S. Vinod (KYS State President) delivered the Chairman's speech.In his speech he briefed about the KYS activities and asked the youths to come forward,lead our community. They are pillars of our society and our future lies in their hand. Mr. V.D. Satheesan (Hon. N.Paravoor M.L.A.) inaugurated the 7-th State conference by lighting the (Badradeepam) lamp. He then addressed the gathering . Adv. O.S. Ramakrishnan delivered the keynote address. He briefed about Gandhi Krishnan and his contributions to the community.Mr. P.S. Ramachandran(KSS Gen. Secretary),Mr. P.R. Murali ( KSS Sr. Vice President & KYS State Co-ord),Mrs.Bindu Subramanian (KMSS State President),Mr. K.B.Jayakrishnan (KKSA State President),Mr.B.K. Gopi(President KSS Kanayanoor Taluk Union) felicitated the gathering.Mrs.Ganga Bai (W/o Late Social reformer Gandhi Krishnan) was honored with a ponnada by Mr.P.S. Ramachandran and Mr. M.S. Vinod presented a memento . KSS Gen. Secretary Mr. P.S Ramachandran presented Mrs.Ganga Bai her monthly pension given by Kudumbi Seva Sanghom . Mrs.Ganga Bai who is aged 90+ recited a poem. All the participants where delighted after listening the poem.
Mr.Santosh Kumar (KYS Gen.Secretary) presented the Bi-annual Report for the Year 2007-2009.Then he presented the Income-Expenditure Statement and the Audit report for the year 2007-2009.The Audit was done by Mr. K.C. Suresh (KSS State Treasure).Audit report stressed the need to collect a working fund for KYS . Later the gathering passed the report and statement unanimously by clapping their hands.
The election for the new KYS State committee for 2009-2011 was announced by the Chairman.Mr. K.C. Suresh ( KSS Treasurer) and Mr. P.R. Murali were deputed to supervise the election.Mr.Shibu G.S.,Cherai was elected as KYS State President and Mr. Anujith ,N.paravoor as Gen.Secretary. Other executive and state members were also elected.
After the lunch the Discussion forum was inaguarated by Mr. K.K. Uttaram (Hon. District and Session Judge). Dr.Mahadevan,Dr.Govindan and Adv. S.Gopinath where moderators for the forum. Mr. Gopinath introduced the topic and briefed the guidelines to be followed by the participants. Soon the participants started presenting their views.Majority of them spoke about growing menace of Alcoholism in the community.Many expressed their views and remedies.Also many where apprehensive about low participation of youths in community activities.They suggested many programs which KYS can Co-ordinate and involve their active participation. Later the moderators summed all the views/suggestions and concluded the forum.
Two students who scored all A+ grade in the recent 10th class examination where given prizes.KYS Paravoor taluk got the Gandhi Krishnan memorial award for the best KYS-Taluk. KYS Unit-21,Paravoor Town got the Vijayan Master memorial award for the best KYS unit.
7 KYS-Units,22 KSS-branches and 1 KSS taluk Union registered for the conference.Nearly 150 participants from Kodungallor,Paravoor,Vypeen,Ernakulam town & suburbs,West Kochi,Cherthala,Alapuzha and Kollam participated in the conference.Finally Mr. A.B. Manu (KYS State Jt. Secretary) proposed the Vote of thanks. The conference concluded at 5 pm.
